Knapheide Rolls Out New Truck Cab Shelving Designed to Turn Back Seats Into Secure Work Storage

QUINCY, Ill. Knapheide has introduced a new truck cab shelving system designed to transform unused rear-seat space into secure, organized and climate-controlled storage for workers who need to keep frequently used equipment close at hand.

The new Knapheide Cab Shelving replaces a truck’s factory rear seat, creating storage space for workwear, tool bags, laptops, paperwork and other everyday essentials. Keeping those items inside the cab can free up cargo space elsewhere on the vehicle while protecting equipment and sensitive materials from weather, damage, theft and clutter. Knapheide

Knapheide showcased the new shelving at NTEA Work Truck Week on a Ford F-550 mechanic truck and an International CV service truck.

The system was designed with installation in mind, primarily utilizing existing vehicle mounting holes to minimize modifications to the truck. According to Knapheide, the shelving also meets applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

The shelving is constructed from 18-gauge galvanized steel with a bright spangled finish. Knapheide says the material helps resist corrosion while also reflecting light throughout the cab to improve visibility.

Hex-pattern punched windows incorporated into the upper shelf sides and center dividers are designed to improve rear visibility. The openings can also serve as mounting locations for clip-on tools and Knapheide hanging hooks.

Built-in center dividers reinforce the shelving structure while helping prevent tools and equipment from moving around during travel. Shelf liners are also included to reduce sliding and noise while helping protect the shelving surface from scratches, dents and wear.

The new cab shelving is currently available for select Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500 and 3500 Double and Crew Cab models; Ford F-150 through F-550 Super and Crew Cab models; the Ford Ranger; and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500 Double and Crew Cab models.

Knapheide says additional applications are coming soon for Chevrolet Silverado 4500, 5500 and 6500 Crew Cab models; Ford F-650 and F-750 Super and Crew Cab models; the Ford Maverick; GMC Sierra 4500, 5500 and 6500 Crew Cab models; and Ram 1500 through 5500 Quad and Crew Cab models.

The new product provides another option for workers looking to maximize available space within a work truck while keeping commonly used equipment protected and readily accessible.
